The Weeping occured in the aftermath of the Splinter Wars, it spread among the soldiers, anybody could catch it and the disease was a death sentence, no cure was found and magic could do nothing to stop it.
Once contracted one would first suffer from a strong fever which would incapacitate them, delirium would follow and then blindness. In its final phase blood would start leaking out of the victim eyes before they finally died.
The epidemic took 8-10% of Altazia population, it spread with seemingly no rythm or reason and destroyed some Houses while leaving others untouched. Both its origin and the reason for its disapearance are a mystery.
The Weeping cost the church a lot of goodwill since they were the foremost experts in the healing arts, but were completely unable to stop it.
